Longo: Tonali ‘seriously considering leaving Newcastle’ with pre-planned Milan ‘hope’

Sandro Tonali plans to make another move to a Premier League side and then consider a return to AC Milan, it is claimed.

Tonali became a fan-favourite during his short stint at Milan, achieving the dream of winning a league title with his boyhood club. He was sold to Newcastle United in a big-money move, something that is still painful for a lot of supporters given that he looked destined to become a future captain.

A return in mind

The Italian has never hidden his attachment, either. After scoring in the play-off win over Northern Ireland last week, Tonali likened the goal tothe one he scored away against Lazio in the Scudetto-winning season in terms of its importance.

Since then, talk has emerged from England regarding the future of the former Brescia man, suggesting that he has a gentleman’s agreement to leave Newcastle if they do not achieve qualification for any European competition in 2026-27.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Tonali is ‘seriously considering leaving Newcastle and taking the next step’, while he has ‘a preference for the Premier League or a top Spanish club’ at the moment.

Then, Tonali has ‘the hope, within 3/4 years, of returning to Milan’. It feels very hard to predict where things will be that far down the line, and there will be other things to factor in such as what his market value is and how much Milan are willing to spend.
