Report: New destination appears for Andy Robertson as departing Liverpool full-back tipped for European adventure

A new destination has emerged for Andy Robertson, who looks set to pull the curtain on his Liverpool career this summer.

Back in the January window, Robertson was heavily linked with Spurs, and their interest could be reignited in the summer if they manage to avoid relegation.

But a new suitor has emerged in Europe. AC Milan are considering a free transfer for the Scotsman. Their current first choice, ex-Brighton defender Pervis Estupinan, hasn’t set the world alight at the San Siro, so there is scope for a deal with one of Liverpool’s modern greats.

AC Milan’s stance on signing Andy Robertson on a free

The Italian giants have come back strong from a frankly disastrous 2024/25 campaign which saw them finish eighth in Serie A.

They are six points back from Inter in the race for the Scudetto, but like any top club, they have one eye on the summer.

A report from Calciomercato claims the Rossoneri are unmoved by the performances of Estupinan, who was brought in to replace Theo Hernandez last summer. His ‘possible departure’ could lead Milan to pursue Liverpool’s current second-choice left-back.

They talk about how the Reds have already ‘turned the page’ with Milos Kerkez, and Milan have long seen Robertson as a viable replacement, despite turning 32 last month.

The only hitch could be the cost. Sure, Robertson’s Liverpool contract is up, but even on a free transfer, his wages are ‘considerable’. According to the Italian outlet, Premier League interest is to be expected, but Milan may well come to the negotiating table too.

Time for Liverpool to look at left-backs

Much of the Liverpool transfer news this week has been around possible Mo Salah replacements.

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

In terms of filling the Robertson void, Lewis Hall was linked with Liverpool. He is, however, very highly regarded at Newcastle, and a deal sounds quite difficult. Fulham’s Antonee Robinson pops up from time to time, and Alphonso Davies was mooted as a possible summer mover.

But nothing you can hang your hat on. Apparently, Liverpool are interested in Denzel Dumfries, but that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense from a squad-balance perspective.

It’s time to pursue some concrete options and make sure we aren’t short-handed in the left-back position come the start of next season.
