Casemiro has opened transfer talks after making a decision to axe a crucial clause in his Manchester United contract.

The 34-year-old midfielder announced back in January that he would leave Old Trafford at the end of his contract this summer. However, the former Real Madrid man has continued to enjoy the revival of his United career in the months after his future was decided.

Despite calls from United fans urging the Brazilian to sign a new contract and make a U-turn on his intention to leave the club, Casemiro confirmed he would stick to the decision to exit United at the top of his game.

And now, he is reportedly in talks regarding his next club as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported that David Beckham’s MLS side Inter Miami are in talks with the player’s representatives.

Romano stated that Inter Miami have opened talks with Casemiro’s camp and a first proposal has been sent. It’s added the midfielder is open to the move due to the ambitious football project and for his personal life.

However, the deal is said to hinge on the financial package that Miami can give the legendary player as he mulls over other offers from Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Casemiro has been called up to Brazil’s national team and confirmed to The Athletic following the Selecao’s 2-1 loss to France last week that he is not planning on making a U-turn.

“I am still enjoying it a lot (in Manchester),” Casemiro said. “I believe the announcement is now done. It is huge, the affection that the fans have shown towards me.

“But I do really believe the decision is made and done. I am enjoying myself right now. I believe it will be some difficult (emotional) moments, these (final) games at Manchester United.”

Casemiro has been central to United’s resurgence under Michael Carrick, playing in a deep midfield role alongside Kobbie Mainoo while also popping up with crucial goals from set pieces.

Despite his importance, Casemiro is one of the club’s highest earners and the previous clause inserted in his contract would have triggered a further year on the same wages.

However, an agreement was reached to cancel the clause that would have come into effect if he started 35 games this season. Casemiro has played 29 times for United this campaign, scoring seven league goals – the best return of his brilliant career.
