Leeds United managed to turn their season around late last year. Daniel Farke was under huge pressure and the club looked to be going downhill.
But the Leeds boss changed his tactic and team selection which saw them go on huge run before the New Year. They picked up some crucial points in their battle for survival which gave them a fighting chance after January. That run of form was enough for the 49ers to invest in the transfer market in January.

Leeds United brought in Facundo Buonanotte, who cut short his loan from Chelsea to push for a move to Elland Road. And the ownership almost followed that with a huge move for Jorgen Strand Larsen, but PSR restrictions halted negotiations.
Fiorentina make decision on Jack Harrison
One move that came as a surprise was Jack Harrison leaving on loan to Fiorentina. Later, Farke explained that one of the reasons the 49ers brought in Buonanotte was because Harrison asked to leave. The winger barely played the whole season, and decided to get some first team minutes elsewhere.
Jack Harrison’s stint in Italy has not been the best; he has struggled to make an impact in a side that is fighting to avoid relegation. Since he arrived in Italy, he has managed just one goal contribution. And now, Corriello dello Sport have all but confirmed the winger will return to Elland Road. Fiorentina have already decided to sign Manor Solomon on a permanent deal, and will not be moving forward with Harrison. The club’s director, Fabio Paratici, who facilitate the transfer, is not impressed with the performances. Fiorentina also want his wages off the books at the end of the season.

Leeds United will be furious about deal gone bad
Daniel Farke and the 49ers are the biggest losers in this scenario; they both agreed bringing Harrison back was a good move. On the outside, it did not look like a bad decision – he had experience and was a useful player. But his performances this campaign have showed that the winger is past it. In his limited cameos at Elland Road, he never impressed Farke. What is even more frustrating is how Harrison pushed for the exit in January; especially after the club made the effort to bring him in on loan. After this loan, his value would have reduced and Leeds will now have less bargaining power.
