Sergio Arribas’ standout campaign with Almería continues to reach new heights. The attacking midfielder delivered another decisive performance in the 5-1 win over Real Sociedad B, scoring a brace to move clear as the league’s top scorer with 20 goals in 32 matches.
His numbers are historic for the club. Arribas has surpassed Álvaro Negredo’s best scoring season (19 goals in 2008/09) and matched the 20-goal campaigns of Álvaro Giménez and Umar Sadiq. And he’s not just scoring—he’s creating too, with seven assists this season.
In total contributions (20 goals + 7 assists), Arribas is keeping pace with elite-level output. Only a handful of players across Europe’s top two divisions have better numbers, underlining just how dominant he has been in his category.
His coach Rubi acknowledged both his form and mentality after the match.
“He is very eager to finish the season because he knows that these kinds of campaigns, sometimes you want to repeat them and they don’t turn out the same. It is worth continuing until the end to achieve the team’s objective and then increase his own numbers.”
Interest is growing. Sporting CP are closely tracking him, while Real Madrid remain attentive, holding 50% of his future sale.
“They have 50% of my next transfer, but I understand that in the end Almería decides where I go.”
With his trajectory, a move to the elite feels inevitable.
