Dave Edwards: Wolves face a fight to keep stars this summer

It is a really big summer for Wolves and I expect to see a lot of change to the squad.

If it is to be a promotion push to get out of the Championship, with relegation still likely this season, then Wolves have to get the squad balance right and the right characters.

It's not a given that Wolves will come back up because they've been in the Premier League. We’ve seen teams drop down and really struggle and once you do struggle for one season, then it's hard to gain some more momentum.

Quality will be crucial and while they have players that are already better than Championship level, it’s important to try your best to keep as many of them as possible.

That will be hard and I expect Joao Gomes and Andre to leave the football club.

Others will have plenty of suitors too, but if Wolves can keep them, then I think it'll be a massive plus.

Ladislav Krejci, since he's come through the door, has been a wonderful addition. He’s a very talented footballer and you can see how good he was for Czechia against Ireland.

His versatility - being able to play in defence and midfield - is also really important.

Especially if we lose J.Gomes and Andre, midfield will be light and Krejci could be one of the best midfielders or defenders in the Championship with his quality, although I do think clubs will be interested in him.

We've already seen from his character that he'll be up for the fight and we saw right from the very first moment that his character and his temperament seems very good for British football.

That will lend itself well to the Championship and Krejci will be so important if you can keep him, but I'm under no illusion that there'll be other Premier League clubs and other teams around Europe that will want him.

The other player I'd be really keen to keep hold of is Hugo Bueno.

He's taken a little bit of time to find his feet after coming back from loan spells and getting through injuries and now he looks like a really complete Premier League left-wing-back.

In a Championship where so many goals are scored from crosses, an attacking wing-back will be key and I don't think there'll be anyone better than Hugo Bueno.

But again, there'll be so many suitors, whether that's back in Spain or whether that's in the Premier League.

I do think he is at that level, so having a player his age and his quality will be a huge plus.

He’s excellent on the ball and he’s got better defensively this year against tough wingers.

But going forward, he will be absolutely key and a massive asset to Wolves. Not only on the pitch next season, but if he has another good season, his price tag will also increase.

I expect it to be difficult to keep them both but I’d love to see them in a Wolves shirt next season.

There are also other positions that Wolves will need to address in the transfer window.

Midfield is definitely light if the two Brazilians leave and we definitely need another striker to complement what Tolu Arokodare and Adam Armstrong can do.

The goalkeeper situation is the really interesting one. I expect Jose Sa to leave the football club and I think he’s been brilliant.

In my opinion, Sam Johnstone is more than capable of being a top Championship goalkeeper, but it's whether he finds the motivation to want to do that.

I'm sure he still has ambitions to play in the Premier League and he hasn't had the best time at Wolves, so will he want a fresh start?

If he does stay, I would have no worries at all if Johnstone was lining up in between the posts for us on the first day of next season.
