Man Utd are in the market for several players ahead of the summer transfer window.
United have prioritised a midfield refresh at the end of the season and would like to sign two players in the central positions. United are prepared to sanction a marquee move for an elite midfielder, while there is also a desire to sign at least one star with Premier League experience.
It is understood that Nottingham Forest ace Elliot Anderson is viewed as the dream addition this summer, though Man City are considered the current favourites to sign him. United have several other stars on their shortlist, including Newcastle duo Tonali and Guimaraes, though it might be difficult to sanction a move for either of them.

Newcastle send transfer warning ahead of the summer
Newcastle United acknowledge they might have to sell key players this summer to finance the next stage of their rebuild.
Alexander Isak left the club for a British transfer record fee of £125 million last year, despite being labelled 'unsellable' earlier in the summer window. His exit proved that every player has a price, and although Newcastle would rather keep hold of stars such as Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, there is an acceptance that one of them could leave this summer.
Manchester United hold an interest in both players ahead of the transfer window, though they are not the only clubs fond of the Newcastle duo. Speaking this week, Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson insisted any player sale this summer would be on 'their terms' and they would look to extract the 'maximum price' possible for any transfer.
“If an Isak-like scenario presents itself again, any player under contract is going to leave on our terms and we’re going to maximise the opportunity that might represent for the club,” Hopkinson said. “Going forward, our strategy is to buy well and sell well."
