Anthony Martial has been banished from training by Monterrey after throwing his toys out the pram at the weekend when he was subbed off.
His tantrum has seen the ex-Manchester United star told to stay away from training for the remainder of the week after his antics were not well received. The French forward moved to Mexico to join Monterrey in September 2025 on a two-year deal, but his spell has now hit a new low.
Martial was hauled off during Monterrey's 3-2 defeat by Chivas de Guadalajara last Sunday, replaced by youngster Joaquin Moxica in the 74th minute. The 30-year-old went on to throw a tantrum on the subs bench.
Mexican outlet TUDN have now reported that Martial will have to go through his paces away from the main group for the remainder of the week because his reaction did not please manager Nicolas Sanchez.
Despite heading to Monterrey with a huge reputation, Martial has found it hard to make an impact and the striker has just one goal to his name across his last 21 appearances for the Mexican outfit.
It represents further decline for a player who was once the most expensive teenager in the world after signing for United in the summer of 2015 for £36million under Louis van Gaal. Martial moved from Monaco and enjoyed a sensational debut, scoring a terrific solo goal against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
His time in Manchester was marred by inconsistency across almost a decade. Martial scored 90 times across 317 games, with his single-season best seeing him hit the back of the net 23 times. In his final season the Frenchman scored just twice.

He was allowed to leave the Premier League giants when his contract came to an end in the summer of 2024. Then he headed to Greece and linked up with AEK Athens, but his stay in the capital was relatively underwhelming. He scored nine times in 24 outings.
Martial was named the Golden Boy winner in 2015, an award also won by the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Lamine Yamal, but has never lived up to that potential.
Former United team-mate Diogo Dalot recently said on Martial: "If he wanted, he could be the best player in the world. Easily."
