Manchester United’s interest in raiding Newcastle this summer could be expedited with UEFA sending a warning over financial breaches.
This summer transfer window could see a first Newcastle to Manchester United transfer since Michael Owen in 2009, who had followed Andy Cole in 1995.
United have been heavily linked with Sandro Tonali, while interest persists in both Lewis Hall and Bruno Guimaraes.
Newcastle will never be willing sellers to Old Trafford, but they might be forced into a transfer with the latest threat from UEFA.
Which Newcastle player would you want Manchester United to sign the most?💰
United have been linked with Tonali, Gordon, Thiaw, Hall and Guimarães. But which makes most sense?

Newcastle at risk of a hefty fine for UEFA finance breaches
According to The Times, Newcastle have now found themselves on the brink of financial punishment from UEFA for breaches.
This is because UEFA refused to accept their £133m stadium sale – to themselves via a subsidiary – and therefore the Magpies failed the earnings for 2024/25.
It gave Newcastle a profit for the first-time, instead of what looked to be a record loss.

It is added that Newcastle are now negotiating a settlement for this breach, which is expected to be between £4.3m and £8.7m.
Newcastle tried to explain this as a reorganisation of property assets, but UEFA hasn’t fallen for this. Now we must see if the Premier League is also going to take a dim view of this.
The fine in itself might not be detrimental, but being in such a precarious position will no doubt mean they need to sell this summer to avoid further punishment.
In addition, the Daily Mail has reported that this summer, only a significant sale would free up funds for signings to be made.
As things stand, Newcastle don’t have the scope to reinvest in the squad.
Not qualifying for the Champions League, therefore, could see Tonali sold by force in order to comply with current financial periods and allow them to invest.

Manchester United should push for Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall
Newcastle’s financial struggles are pretty well documented, and with no Champions League football, it could get worse for them.
Last summer, Newcastle had to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool for £125m, and another big sale could be on the cards for them this summer.
Tonali looks like the likeliest, with United and Man City plotting to sign him, and the way things are going, the Italian could be all but gone by the time this season ends.
But United should also be trying to sign Lewis Hall, as there is little indication that one sale will be enough this summer.
United should push to take advantage.
