Report: West Ham likely to miss out on £17m AC Milan defender to Spurs

West Ham are likely to miss out on a transfer target to Tottenham after Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment.

Both clubs are interested in signing Ecuador international Pervis Estupinan from AC Milan this summer.

De Zerbi’s expected arrival now means that Spurs have a significant advantage over the Hammers in the race to sign him.

How worried should we be about De Zerbi joining Tottenham? 😟

Spurs hold major advantage over West Ham in Pervis Estupinan transfer race

MilanLive reported several weeks ago that West Ham were among the teams interested in a summer deal for Estupinan.

The Italian outlet suggested that West Ham and Fulham were the “likeliest destinations” for the left-back in the Premier League.

Estupinan would either provide strong competition for El Hadji Malick Diouf or be a quality replacement if he were to leave.

However, the Hammers will probably be beaten to the signing by Spurs after De Zerbi’s imminent arrival.

De Zerbi coached Estupinan for two seasons at Brighton, helping him develop into one of the best left-backs in England.

Therefore, assuming Spurs avoid relegation to the Championship, they must be considered leading contenders to sign him.

Journalist Alessandro Jacobone has even told fans to “keep an eye on” Estupinan joining Tottenham to reunite with his former manager.

Milan are reportedly looking for a £17 million offer to let Estupinan go after paying £15m for his signature last summer.

This would represent great value for money for an experienced Premier League player with over 50 international caps.
