OK, Geoff Hurt’s England heroics in 1966 saw West Ham United ‘win the World Cup’, but can you guess the other six players to score at the festival of football while representing the Hammers?
By our working, Hurst is one of five players to find the net on football’s biggest stage while contracted to West Ham United.
Hurst is also one of two players to score in a FIFA World Cup final. The other, of course, being France’s Kylian Mbappe in 2022, although an iconic Qatari treble was still not enough to deny Lionel Messi the one trophy missing from his cabinet.
Who do YOU think will join this list in 2026? 🏆 🌎
Bowen? Summerville? Fernandes, maybe?

In terms of other former West Ham United World Cup goalscorers, Martin Peters and Matthew Upson hit the target in an England shirt in 1966 and 2010 respectively.
Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez scored at the 2018 edition, while Lucas Paqueta joined Neymar and Richarlison on the scoresheet in a 2022 4-1 thrashing of South Korea for Brazil.

Enner Valencia, meanwhile, has scored six goals across three tournaments with Ecuador. Now 36 and as prolific as ever, Valencia was linked with a shock move to Barcelona last year.
A brace at the 2026 tournament against Ivory Coast, Germany or minnows Curacao, and the evergreen striker will reach half a century for his country.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES
There are plenty of other former West Ham players to score in a World Cup.
Carlos Tevez netted three for Argentina. Jermain Defoe, Joe Cole and Jesse Lingard scored for England under Fabio Capello, Sven Goren Eriksson and Gareth Southgate respectively. Winston Reid has one World Cup goal for New Zealand, ditto Freddie Ljungberg for Sweden.
And while Croatian legend Davor Suker flopped at West Ham, he arrived from Arsenal in 2020 as the reigning World Cup Golden Boot holder.
If anyone is going to join Hurst and co in the history books this summer, Jarrod Bowen will be hoping it’s him. Bowen still needs to fully win over Thomas Tuchel, it seems, but a spot in England’s squad looks like being his to lose.
Ronald Koeman hopes to have Crysencio Summerville available for the Netherlands, meanwhile. Portugal boss Roberto Martinez is a big fan of Mateus Fernandes; West Ham’s Algarve-born action man planning to take his fine club form onto the international stage.
