Zahir 'Zee' Zarei, manager of the esteemed Charles Cuts barbershop on Ponteland's Main Street, is taking his expertise to the animal kingdom, as planning behind his new venture - Paws of Ponteland - ramps up.
In a recent social media post published on March 20, Zee said he "hopes" Paws of Ponteland will open its doors in the next 4-5 weeks, and he "can't wait" to welcome new customers. The dog grooming business is taking over the space previously occupied by the estate agent Signature By Mark Small.
He received over 200 messages and comment responses on a previous post asking for name suggestions for the dog grooming business before choosing Paws of Ponteland.
The barber, who has welcomed Geordie Shore's Aaron Chalmers and Newcastle United football players Dan Burn and Anthony Gordon to Charles Cuts, which itself celebrated its third anniversary in March, said the community response was "incredible".
"We received around 200 comments and messages, and I was truly surprised and grateful for all the support from our amazing community," the post read
"First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to comment, suggest names, and support us. It really means a lot and shows how strong and supportive this community is.
"Congratulations to the winner who suggested the name Paws of Ponteland; such a perfect name for our shop!
"A big congratulations to you - you've won a FREE full grooming package for your dog.
"We truly hope to provide the best possible service for everyone in the community and make your lovely dogs look and feel amazing."
Zee also revealed that Paws of Ponteland is currently looking for professional dog groomers to join its team.
"If you're interested or know someone who might be, please get in touch with us. We'd love to hear from you," he added.
"Thank you all again for your support - this is just the beginning, and we can't wait to welcome you very soon!"
