Leeds United set for Dublin return with friendly against Manchester United at 83,200-capacity…

Leeds United look set for a return to Dublin to face bitter rivals Manchester United in a friendly at Croke Park.

Daniel Farke’s side made a trip over to the Republic of Ireland’s capital last August for the final friendly of their pre-season preparations.

The Aviva Stadium was a sea of yellow, white and blue as the Premier League club did battle with AC Milan, drawing 1-1 in front of a 51,711-strong crowd.

It was an experience fans appeared to relish and another high-profile friendly on the Emerald Isle looks to have been teed up.

Leeds United set for Dublin return

As reported by the Irish Independent, Leeds look set to lock horns with Manchester United in Dublin on Wednesday, August 12.

The city’s iconic home of Gaelic sports, Croke Park, has been mooted as the venue for the meeting.

Nearly 17 years have passed since football was played at the stadium, which can hold a staggering 82,300 people.

It regularly hosts gaelic football and hurling, but has not played host to football since the Republic of Ireland national team lost to France in 2009.

Leeds United’s pre-season schedule

The Whites will face Wrexham in Florida on July 25 before taking on Sunderland in New Jersey on July 30 and Liverpool in Chicago on August 2.

Exciting pre-season plans may be taking shape, but Leeds currently have laser focus on the Premier League run-in and their FA Cup quarter-final.

The Whites have seven games left to play in the league and sit four points clear of the drop zone in 15th.

Farke’s men will return to action on Sunday (April 5), visiting West Ham for an FA Cup quarter-final showdown at the London Stadium.
