Liverpool given triple€120m transfer opportunity–Reds keen, can take 1 or all 3 players

Liverpool target Francisco Conceição

Pierre Kalulu, Francisco Conceicao and Khephren Thuram have become some of Juventus’ most important players since last season, and all three players are emerging as targets for Liverpool.

Last week,SportWitness covered claims from Italy about their interest in the French defender. The idea was really pushed by Il Giornale, with Manchester United also mentioned as a suitor.

This came right after the Portuguese winger was mentioned as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Conceicao himselfaddressed the talk, clarifying that he is happy in Turin. Liverpool have made first contact for him but a deal isn’t expected to be easy.

Speculation about this has only increased in Italy, asGazzetta dello Sport specifically look at the Reds’ possible shopping spree in Turin.

Liverpool keen on three Juve players

The newspaper believe that sirens from the Reds are ‘ringing loudly’ at the Bianconeri. While Juve wouldn’t want to sell their key players, a failure to finish inside the top four can potentially force their hand.

They start with Conceicao, who is being seen as a replacement for Salah. The winger arrived in Turin for a fee up to €32m – including the loan fee. To execute a sale, they would need €20m to €25m more. Earning around €50m would help them get a hefty capital gain.

The price tag is likely to be lower for Kalulu, who currently weighs €11m in the Old Lady’s accounts.

Gazzetta claim that many English clubs – presumably Liverpool too, have made enquiries for the defender. As of now, Juve will only accept monstrous offers for him, with their price tag previously mentioned at around €30m.

Thuram, meanwhile, joined the Italian side for €20m and has become arguably their most important player under every manager. The Reds have made enquiries for him and so have Manchester United, with Juve likely to accept a fee of €40m for his sale.

How Juve’s season ends will determine everything. If they finish inside the top four, they wouldn’t be forced into sales but failure to qualify for the Champions League can potentially mean disaster.

Our take: Thuram and Kalulu add value to Liverpool

Out of the three, only Thuram and Kalulu would be potential upgrades on what Liverpool currently have. The 25-year-old defender boasts immense versatility and if Ibrahima Konate departs, he can slot in seamlessly at centre-back.

Thuram is a much better option than Curtis Jones, who himself was linked with a move to Serie A in January. He could also prove to be the best out of any midfield options at Anfield right now.

Conceicao has issues around consistency. He has moments of brilliance in him but has never translated them into regular impact. Bringing him in to replace someone like Salah can prove to be underwhelming. That said, any replacement for Salah is likely to be several steps down from the Anfield legend.

The cost of all three Juventus players will be around €120m, and Liverpool will know there’s an opportunity there. Whilst they’re unlikely to take all three, the sale situation will be even more attractive if Juve don’t finish where they need to.
