Four members of West Ham United Women currently out on loan were in action for their temporary sides over the weekend.
Midfielder Keira Flannery completed the full 90 minutes for league leaders Charlton Athletic, who suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat away to promotion rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2.
Charlton made a strong start at the VBS Community Stadium, taking the lead through Amalie Thestrup, who netted her seventh goal of the season. However, Palace responded just before the break, with Hayley Ladd finding the equaliser in first-half stoppage time.
The hosts carried that momentum into the second half, striking twice in quick succession through Kirsty Howat and Abbie Larkin to put themselves in control. Charlton were handed a lifeline late on when Emma Bissell converted from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining, but Palace held firm to secure an important three points.
Despite the setback, Charlton remain top of the table, though their advantage has been cut to six points over third-placed Palace, who also have a game in hand.
Elsewhere Birmingham City closed the gap further after edging past Bristol City 1-0 at Ashton Gate. Camila Sáez was named among the substitutes but did not feature, as Wilma Leidhammar’s second-half goal proved decisive and moved Birmingham to within three points of the summit.
In another fixture, Jessie Stapleton was named in the starting line-up for Nottingham Forest in their 2-1 home victory over Durham, but her afternoon was cut short due to injury after 27 minutes. Forest had already built a two-goal lead by that stage and, although Durham pulled one back through Lily Agg shortly after, the hosts held on to claim their eighth win of the campaign.
Finally, Ruby Warwick featured from the start in Barking’s narrow 1-0 loss away at Aylesford in the London & South East Regional Women’s Premier Division, where Becky Burnham scored the only goal of the game.
Soraya Walsh also saw action, coming off the bench in the 57th minute for Hashtag United, who were beaten 2-0 by Oxford United in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.
