**Liverpool have sacked Arne Slot and replaced him with former boss Roy Hodgson until the end of the season.**
Hodgson (who is now 78 years of age), had recently made a surprise return to management with Bristol City, but days after taking up the post at Ashton Gate, he made a dramatic U-turn and arrived at Anfield instead.
It’s not entirely clear how things transpired. Hodgson may have got on the wrong motorway. Instead of heading down the M5 to Bristol, he went up the M6 and ended up in Merseyside.
Once there, he found himself outside the stadium asking for directions when he came across chief executive Billy Hogan.
Hogan only joined the Reds in 2012 so he had never met Hodgson, who was sacked at the beginning of 2011. The pair got chatting, and one thing led to another.
Slot’s time in charge comes to an end
-------------------------------------
With just seven games to go in the Premier League, a FA Cup quarter-final this weekend to play, and two legs of the Champions League quarter-final tie against PSG on the horizon, Liverpool felt it was exactly the right time to make a change in the dugout.
Hogan and the rest of FSG have been listening keenly to supporters on X and Instagram, as well as channels on YouTube, who have been calling for [**Slot**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-news-xabi-alonso-arne-slot-allardyce/) to be sacked immediately, and they completely agree that the Dutchman had to go despite winning the Premier League title in his first season and having the second-highest win ratio of any manager in the club’s history.
Hodgson is the right man to take the reins at Liverpool
-------------------------------------------------------
The former England manager, who masterminded the Three Lions’ heroic loss to Iceland in 2016, has been called in as a firefighter to save the Reds’ season.
Hodgson’s 41.93% win ratio may pale in comparison to Slot’s (and most other former Liverpool managers, for that matter), but he feels that his experience of putting ten men behind the ball, and hoping for a lucky winner, is exactly what the Reds need.
