“It’s not something where I’m actively saying, “I want to be the next captain,” but if it ever presented itself to me, I wouldn’t be the sort of person to say no. I’d take it with open arms because I feel like I could offer a lot, but that’s just a natural progression,” Dewsbury-Hall said.
“I know there are a lot of big players in this team, but for me, it’s just about trying to lead by example on the pitch and do as well as I can for the team. If that in turn leads to something else, then I’m happy to take that.”
The midfielder is one of the most experienced players at the club having played in Europe with both Chelsea and Leicester City.
“I’m the sort of person who wants to drive a club on and drive a project. That’s why I came here,” he said.
“I could have stayed at Chelsea, and I had other options, but this was definitely the thing I saw myself being part of: a new project. Hopefully, it’s going to be the right decision. I think it is.”
Dewsbury-Hall has offered Thierno Barry some advice following his recent struggles at Everton with some of the supporters.
He has quickly shown he could be an option to replace Seamus Coleman and James Tarkowski.
James Garner will also push Everton captaincy bid
It must be noted that there is no sudden captaincy change expected.
However, with Tarkowski now 32 years old, it is something that could develop over the coming years.
James Garner has impressed Thomas Tuchel following his England debut in what has been a real breakthrough campaign for the midfielder.
He is also a player at Everton who could throw his hat in the ring, given the reliability he has shown under Moyes.
