Yakubu made over 100 appearances for Everton.
Everton spent a then club-record £11.25m on Yakubu’s signature from Premier League rivals Middlesbrough in 2007.
The Nigerian centre-forward was only second to Thierry Henry in the division’s goalscoring charts over the last four seasons.

Yakubu explains why he hated David Moyes’ training sessions
Yakubu explained that he hated Moyes’ training sessions because the Scotsman demanded his players to do a lot of running.
“Moyes’ training is like military,” the 57-cap Nigeria international stated.
“You have to give everything. For me, I don’t enjoy those running around 200 metres. If it’s 50 metres, 100… then yeah.

“But running around 200, 400… (Moyes) would be like ‘Yak don’t stop! Keep going!’
“I was always at the back after a little bit, with the strikers and goalkeepers. Sometimes I stop before the goalkeepers!”

Despite disliking Moyes’ training sessions, Yakubu remains a big admirer of the Everton manager and publicly hailed him last year.
“His passion is unmatched, and he gives his all,” he told Sportsboom.
“I believe the club is now in safe hands with such a good manager at the helm.
“To bring stability, I think he needs to focus on rebuilding the team’s confidence and instilling belief in the players.
“That self-belief is key – it can transform their mindset and performance on the pitch. I think when you watch the way they play at times, you can see they lack confidence. He will work to restore the club’s glory days.”
