David Moller Wolfe was one of the Wolves players off on international duty over the last week.
The summer signing started in Norway’s 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands - but he was on the bench for the clash with Switzerland on Tuesday night.
However, it turned into a night to forget for the Wolves full back.
He came off the bench in the 63rd minute to replace Man City striker Erling Haaland.
But having been on the pitch for just 12 minutes he was replaced by ex-Albion defender Torbjorn Heggem.
It was after Wolfe was on the receiving end of an elbow under his eye and he was left in visible pain.
The full back was left bleeding and required four stiches to stop the blood flow from the wound.
As soon as Wolfe went down in the game, he was surrounded by his team mates, with one in Benfica striker Andreas Schjelderup quickly signalling to the bench that treatment was needed.
Wolfe spoke after the game to a Norwegian newspaper and admitted to being left panicked after seeing his team-mates react to the incident.
He said: “My teammates who came over reacted, and that’s when I panicked, I won’t lie about that. Schjelderup came over to me and shouted ‘Ola’, (the team doctor) and that’s when I panicked.”
