Ireland manager encourages Everton’s Seamus Coleman against retirement
Coleman has been unwilling to comment on his future, with the prospect of retirement a clear possibility this summer.
“You ask him. It’s his decision, what he’s going to do, but we hope, and we told him, we hope he will stay on, and play with us next season, and and hopefully, for the Euros, played in Ireland, that would be a fantastic for him if he would be playing at that time,” Hallgrimsson told the media on Tuesday.

A lot of Everton fans want Coleman to retire and join the club’s coaching set-up at Finch Farm.
The defender has only played 12 minutes of Premier League action this season following a string of injury issues.
Everton could be left with interesting Coleman decision
If Coleman is not to retire from football, then it is going to leave the Toffees with a big decision to make.
Moyes adores Coleman’s leadership skills on Merseyside and losing them to another club would have to be considered.
It is apparent that Coleman’s best playing days may be behind him as his lack of availability has been visible across the 2025/26 campaign.
Leaving Everton for a new club at the age of 37 would also be a huge decision for Coleman.
Coleman has already earned his coaching badges, but he needs to come to the biggest decision of his career over the coming weeks regarding his future in the game.
