Casemiro has now realised why Man Utd fans are completely different to Real Madrid fans – opinion

Casemiro’s impact at both Real Madrid and Manchester United has been felt and the midfielder holds distinct relationships with both sets of fans at the two clubs.

The 34-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder enjoyed incredible success in the Spanish capital, including winning five Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

Following his Madrid exit in 2022, Casemiro has endured both the highs and lows with Manchester United after he arrived under the Old Trafford reign of Erik ten Hag.

Despite his resurgence in the tail end of his Red Devils spell, the former Los Blancos midfielder has held an all-important affinity with United fans at Old Trafford.

Forget Real Madrid fans, Casemiro has realised what Man Utd supporters have offered him at Old Trafford

Casemiro will become a free agent in the summer and the Manchester United star will leave Old Trafford after his resurgence of form in the 2025-26 campaign.

The veteran midfielder has been important for interim boss Michael Carrick, so much so that his upcoming exit has pulled on the heartstrings of fans in recent weeks.

It was ahead of the March international break when Man Utd fans pleaded for Casemiro to remain at Old Trafford for another 12 months after the Aston Villa win.

Casemiro admitted that his wife, Anna Mariana, had been moved by the response of the Old Trafford faithful, but he has also learned the “affection” they hold for him.

“Well, honestly, I feel so happy, especially for the affection from the fans, and the respect they have for me,” he told Manchester United’s official website.

“So, it’s just gratitude for this love, it is so exciting. I am hoping not to cry on my last day, as it is such a beautiful experience.

“My wife already cried the other day, when the fans were asking for one more year.

“So, I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments and I will be a United fan for the rest of my life.”

Man Utd fans’ affection towards Casemiro is different from the ‘demands’ of Real Madrid supporters

Casemiro’s farewell on the final day of the 2025-26 Premier League season will be an emotional one after his importance in the United first-team squad since his move.

Whether it has been his successful first season under Erik ten Hag or his blip in form in the following campaign, United fans have stuck by Casemiro through it all.

There has not been a standout occasion where Brazil star Casemiro has had to come out and defend himself against Man Utd fans during his time at Old Trafford.

However, the same cannot be said for Casemiro’s time at Real Madrid, especially for the ‘demands’ that Los Blancos supporters placed on him and his teammates.

Casemiro, for example, had to come out in defence of former Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale when the Welshman was being heckled by Los Blancos supporters.

“When you whistle one player, you whistle all of us,” he said in 2022, as per ESPN.

“Football is about opinions; everyone has theirs, but I don’t agree when a player on my team is whistled. We’re all on the same side; we have to support him.”

Casemiro has equally spoken fondly of his appreciation for Madrid fans, but the unwavering support of Man Utd supporters has opened his eyes to the difference.
