Steven Gerrard has previously been discussed as a potential replacement for Arne Slot at Liverpool.
Earlier this season, there was a suggestion that the Reds could bring in an interim manager to see out the campaign.
Some fans called for Gerrard to be brought back to Anfield at the time. But now, the iconic midfielder has admitted he’s probably not ready to take charge of his former club on a long-term basis.

Steven Gerrard not ready for permanent Liverpool job
The Englishman sat down with Stick to Football this week to discuss a wide range of topics, including his managerial career.
Gerrard had a mixed spell at Aston Villa and has been out of work since leaving Al-Ettifaq at the beginning of 2025.
Now, he has admitted that though he would help Liverpool in any way, he doesn’t think that, in the present moment, he is ready to take the job long-term.
He said: “I’ve got a brilliant connection with the club. I always have, and probably a stronger connection since I left. They’ve always been unbelievable.

“Any help or area I could help the club in, I’d always try and do it if I could. But I suppose what you want to know is, do you want to manage Liverpool at some point in your life? Of course, that would be a dream, but I think would I be ready for it right now to take it over a period of time?
“Probably not, but is there a possibility in the future to be alongside someone, them elite managers that you’re talking about?”
Gerrard was then asked if he would be open to becoming someone’s assistant manager at Anfield.
He responded: “Depends who it is and how the conversation goes, and does he need me? What does he think I can offer?”
Steven Gerrard’s record as a manager
With Al-Ettifaq, the ex-Red won 19, drew 16 and lost 20 of his 55 matches in charge.
He also had a negative record with Aston Villa, securing 13 wins, eight draws and 19 losses.
However, his longest spell as a coach, which came with Scottish powerhouse Rangers, was much better.
Gerrard won 124 games, drew 41 times and fell to defeat on 27 occasions across all competitions.
