Liverpool have received a major boost ahead of a crucial run of fixtures, with Alexander Isak set to return to full team training after a three-month injury layoff.
The Swedish striker is scheduled to rejoin group sessions on Thursday, with Arne Slot confirming the positive development ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming FA Cup clash with Manchester City.
Isak has been sidelined since December after suffering a serious ankle injury, which included a fibula fracture, shortly after scoring against Tottenham. The setback required surgery and forced the forward into an extended rehabilitation period lasting close to three months.

Liverpool’s official channels shared the encouraging news on Wednesday afternoon, with Slot speaking openly about Isak’s progress and mindset heading into his return.

“I think Alex is in a really good place because Sweden qualified for the World Cup yesterday evening and apart from that he’s going to train with the group again for the first time tomorrow,” Slot said on Wednesday.
“If you’ve worked so hard for three, four months or something like that and then to return to team training, that’s for everyone very nice. So Alex is, in that sense, in a good place.
“Of course it’s only his first session, after three or four months [out], with the team but it’s good to have him back because we all know who we signed and we’ve signed an incredible striker.”
The return marks an important moment for Liverpool, particularly given the expectations surrounding Isak following his high-profile move from Newcastle in the summer.
Signed for a reported £125m fee, Liverpool’s No.9 has struggled to build momentum during his debut campaign due to fitness issues. So far this season, Isak has made 16 appearances across all competitions, playing 781 minutes while contributing three goals and one assist.
