Man United and Leeds confirmed for Croke Park friendly

CROKE PARK WILL host Manchester United and Leeds United for a pre-season friendly in August.

The Premier League rivals will meet in the first soccer game played at GAA HQ since November 2009, when Ireland lost to France in a World Cup play-off before 74,103 fans.

Last autumn, Croker welcomed an NFL regular-season game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings. With no Dublin fixture in 2026, the friendly will be a boost to stadium coffers.

The August 12th fixture, which kicks off at 7.30pm, is priced at €50 for an adult ticket and €25 for under-16s, plus booking fees. A pre-sale opens today, while general sales will commence on April 10th at 10am.

The Man United squad are already set to travel to Ireland next week for a Carton House training camp from April 6th to 9th.

“We’re excited to be heading to Dublin to face Leeds United as part of our pre-season preparations ahead of a big campaign,” said their director of football Jason Wilcox.

“Playing an important fixture against one of our biggest rivals gives us a fantastic opportunity to connect with our supporters in Ireland.

“Their passion and energy will be invaluable as we build momentum and ensure the squad is in the strongest possible shape for the start of the 2026/27 season.”

Leeds and AC Milan drew a sold-out crowd to the Aviva Stadium last summer.

“We are excited at the prospect of returning to Dublin again this summer. Our support in Ireland is huge which was demonstrated last year,” said their chief business officer Morrie Eisenberg.
