Newcastle agree 'transformative' training ground deal as David Hopkinson reacts

Newcastle have agreed a multi-year partnership with KNOX Hydration, who, says chief executive David Hopkinson, share the club's ambition to "disrupt the status quo".

From July 1, the club's training centre at Darsley Park will be officially renamed. And in what is a first for the club, the partnership also includes sleeve sponsorship on training wear for the men's, women's and academy teams.

Newcastle say the partnership represents a "significant step forward" in the club's commercial strategy.

Hopkinson said: "We are thrilled to welcome KNOX Hydration as a world-class partner.

"They share our relentless ambition to disrupt the status quo and reach the pinnacle of our respective industries. This isn't just a branding exercise; it’s a performance-led partnership that will also support our community.

“As we integrate KNOX Hydration products into our daily environment at 'The KNOX,' we are giving our players the best possible tools to succeed, while driving the commercial growth necessary to compete at the very top.

"This is an exciting partnership for everybody at Newcastle United and KNOX, and we cannot wait to get started.”

John Schaefer, chief executive for KNOX Hydration, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Newcastle United, a truly storied football club with a rich history and a bold future.

“With new leadership and heightened ambitions, Newcastle’s trajectory aligns perfectly with KNOX’s own rapid ascent. Just as importantly, the club’s incredibly dedicated fan base and the strong sense of community that surrounds Newcastle United make this partnership especially meaningful. We’re excited to grow together and be part of that journey both on and off the pitch.”

Newcastle said in a statement: "The partnership will commence this summer as the club prepares to open a stunning, multi-million-pound extension to its performance facilities – extending the building footprint by over 50%."

Newcastle say they will also "integrate KNOX Hydration’s high-performance nutrition expertise across all levels of the club, providing players with elite hydration products designed to support performance and recovery."

The link-up follows the release of Newcastle's 2024/25 accounts earlier this week, which revealed a 44 per cent increase in commercial revenue.

Newcastle posed record turnover of £335m, mainly driven by the increase in commercial revenue, which soared from £83m to £120m.

Hopkinson said: “Our financial results reflect not only strong progress on and off the pitch, but also the firm foundations being laid for the future we all aspire to.

"Thanks to the continued backing of PIF and the Reuben family, we are better positioned than ever to invest in our long-term vision and create the conditions for sustained success.

"Together with our supporters, our staff, our players and our ownership, we move forward with ambition and a shared belief in what this club can become.

“As these results pre-date my arrival, I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Darren Eales for his leadership and dedication during an important period of transition for the club. He made a lasting contribution during a key phase, and we are building on that progress with confidence.”
