Everton fans have been so impressed with the job David Moyes has done – and Michael Keane has talked up a trait of his that has really surprised him.
The mood around Everton is currently the best it’s been all season, with the Toffees firmly in contention to secure European football.
Moyes’ current deal expires next year… 🤔

At the moment, Everton are just three points off the Champions League places, and next face Brentford, who are level on points with the Toffees in the Premier League table.
Quite simply, it’s been a season that few really saw coming.
Of course, expectations were high. But many Evertonians were also realistic. The club were in relegation battles in previous seasons, so this campaign was about taking the next step, and perhaps finishing in and around mid-table.
But at the moment Everton are hunting European football – and Michael Keane has been amazed by Moyes’ work ethic.

Keane recently appeared on The Unholy Trinity Everton Podcast to talk about the season so far.

And at one point, talk turned to the manager. And Keane was only too happy to talk about how good things have been under the Scot.
And he actually admitted that Moyes’ incredible work ethic has taken him by surprise.
He said: “I think he’s been amazing. First and foremost, how he gets on with everyone, how he treats everyone – he’s such a good person. I think everyone in the squad loves him as a person first and foremost.
“When it comes to the football side, I never realised how hard he works. He’s obsessed with football, the amount of detail he goes into when it comes to tactics, the day before a game. Set-pieces and then it’s like, if this doesn’t work we’re going to do this.
“There’s so much we go through and that’s all down to him. He must spend hours and hours watching clips and thinking of different solutions so, he’s been great. And he’s been really good for me as well, obviously. He’s put a lot of faith in me, and I like to think I’ve repaid that this season.
“I’ve really enjoyed it, I’m really happy and I’m loving working for him.”
This verdict from Keane should have every Everton fan firmly behind Moyes, because it speaks volumes.
Moyes may be the oldest manager in the Premier League, but clearly he still has a burning passion for his craft and a steely determination to get Everton back to where they belong.

There is clearly fire in the man’s belly. We saw it recently when his emotions completely took over and he celebrated Everton’s late equaliser on the pitch against Brighton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which earned him a booking for his troubles.
And that has perhaps been rubbing off on the players, who have arguably performed above expectations this term.
Given his ability to pick up results and his popularity in the dressing room, it feels like that contract extension for Moyes surely won’t be too far away.
