Croke Park to host pre-season meeting of Premier League rivals Manchester United and Leeds United

PREMIER League heavyweights Manchester United will take on old foes Leeds United in a pre-season fixture at Croke Park Stadium on Wednesday August 12.

The match marks a historic return of elite association football to Croke Park and will be the first football fixture at the venue since November 2009, when the Republic of Ireland faced France in a FIFA World Cup play-off in front of 79,000 fans.

The GAA season will just have ended, with the All-Ireland Camogie finals on Sunday August 9 at the Dublin venue bringing the curtain down on inter-county action.

Leeds and Manchester United couldn’t be separated when they met back in January, drawing 1-1 at Elland Road. Matheus Cunha’s goal, three minutes after Brenden Aaronson hit the net, earned a share of the spoils for the traveling side.
