Steven Gerrard reveals Liverpool return hope

**Steven Gerrard admits he would be open to rejoining Liverpool in a coaching role.**

Gerrard began his journey into management back with his boyhood club overseeing their under-18 side before cutting his teeth with Rangers and later Aston Villa.

The former England international has made no secret of [his ‘dream’ to someday manage the Reds](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/41094-steven-gerrard-reveals-liverpool-manager-dream-rangers-jurgen-klopp/) and was touted for the role by Jurgen Klopp several times.

But Gerrard has not worked within the game since his 18-month spell in charge of Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq ended by mutual consent in January last year.

The 45-year-old recently made a public offer to support Arne Slot in any capacity he can and has reaffirmed that he would welcome the possibility of a return to Anfield.

“I’ve got a brilliant connection with the club, I always have” he told Sky’s Stick to Football.

“\[It’s\] probably a stronger connection since I left, they’ve always been unbelievable.

“Any help or area I could help the club in, obviously, I’d try and do it if I could.

“But I suppose what you want to know is, do I want to manage Liverpool at some point in my life?

“Of course, that would be a dream, but I think, would I be ready for it right now, to take it over a long period of time? Probably not.

“But is there a possibility in the future to be alongside someone, them elite managers that you talk about.”

He added: “You have to understand it before you sign up to it,

“What the role is and that’s support the manager. It’s to be that assistant

“I would do it for Liverpool Football Club, if I was asked and they felt I was the right man to do it, I’d be open to it – yeah, of course.”
