Liverpool make shock move to sign key Tottenham player

Roberto De Zerbi will have to wait to take charge of his first match as Tottenham Hotspur head coach as the Lilywhites do not return to action until April 12.

The Italian was appointed to lead Spurs on Tuesday, following the departure of Igor Tudor after a disastrous spell in charge in north London.

Tottenham currently sit 17th in the Premier League table and are just a point clear of the relegation zone, but they do not feature in this weekend’s FA Cup quarter-finals, with De Zerbi’s first match in charge set to be a visit to Sunderland later this month.

Ahead of that match, it has emerged that a huge Premier League club have made an attempt to sign one of Tottenham’s most talented players.

As per indykaila News, Premier League champions Liverpool have made a move to sign Spurs defender Archie Gray.

The 20-year-old joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2024, having progressed through the Whites’ youth system and made an impressive breakthrough into the first team at Elland Road.

Since moving to north London, Gray has made a total of 78 appearances across all competitions, featuring in a number of roles including at centre-back, right-back and in midfield.

The youngster – who has represented England at several youth levels and has played 17 times for the Under-21s – has been one of few Spurs players to have impressed this term, featuring regularly under both Thomas Frank and, more recently, Tudor.

Gray’s contract in London is set to run until the end of the 2029/30 campaign, but it appears that Liverpool may attempt to lure the player to Merseyside, particularly with relegation to the Championship still a very realistic possibility for the Lilywhites.
