Marcus Thuram has had a difficult past few months at Inter Milan, and as the attacker continues to attract criticism, the Nerazzurri appear to be open to a transfer to Newcastle United.
Last season, the Frenchman contributed to 27 goals in all competitions. He scored 18 times, showcasing his consistency and impressing in his partnership with Lautaro Martinez.
This season, his performances have dropped. He hasn’t scored a Serie A goal since early February, looking like a shadow of his former self at Inter Milan.

Newcastle United have ‘expressed interest’ in his transfer, with the Nerazzurri considering a sale.
Positively enough, the Magpies can get a discount in a move. A release clause in the 28-year-old’s contract stands at €85m but Inter are now willing to accept a sale for ‘no less than’ €65m.
If Eddie Howe’s side offer that, the Italian side would gladly accept a sale. They signed him for free in 2023 and his exit will come in as a huge capital gain for their accounts.
Inter couldn’t reach the Round of 16 of the Champions League this season, losing out on a lot of money. This can force them into a major sale this summer, as they look to earn more revenue.
Indeed, a bit less than that €65m is worth a try.
Next few weeks can determine Thuram’s future
There are still some weeks to go for the Serie A season to end. It is fair to say that Marcus Thuram has been a disappointment but he can still have an impact on the season.
Inter Milan are six points clear at the top of the table and have some massive games coming up. Lautaro Martinez has been missing due to injury for many weeks and his return can also help Thuram.
The duo have a devastating partnership that brings the best out of their strengths. Thuram will benefit from this and it can help him turn his season around.
If it goes well it will justify the Newcastle United transfer interest.
