Villa dealt blow as star now out for three weeks

Aston Villa have been a blow as English winger Jadon Sancho is set to miss a minimum of two to three weeks following a shoulder injury, according to The Athletic.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery will be without the Manchester United-owned forward for the Europa League quarter-final legs against Bologna as a result.

Sancho left the pitch in a sling after a shoulder injury in the first-half of the friendly against Elche last Friday.

While scans have since shown that the 26-year-old has not dislocated his right shoulder, he has suffered a joint issue in the shoulder.

There were initial fears that the Villa man could be out for around six to eight weeks, but he is not expected to miss more than three weeks.

There is no precise timeframe for his return yet and he will continue to be monitored daily.

Sancho will only return to training once there is no pain in his shoulder and he will be desperate to get back on the pitch given his recent form.

He headed to Spain following back-to-back assists against Lille and West Ham United, and Villa could do with him right now.

Sancho will become a free agent at the end of the season and the Villans are not expected to retain his services beyond this season given his wages.

However, he will not be short of suitors in the summer and some impressive performances after he returns to action could catch the eyes of more clubs.
