Jeremie Frimpong trains as Alexander Isak returns: 20-man Liverpool training squad

Jeremie Frimpong was passed fit and Alexander Isak rejoined the squad for the first time as Liverpool resumed training on Thursday ahead of Man City.

Isak could make the matchday squad for the first time in almost 15 weeks on Saturday as Liverpool visit Man City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

It comes after the Swedish striker took part in full training on Thursday as the rest of his team-mates reported back to the AXA Training Centre.

Predicted Liverpool XI vs. Man City: Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Ekitike

There was a further boost as Frimpong was cleared for involvement, after the right-back limped off just 13 minutes into his substitute outing for the Netherlands on Tuesday evening.

Frimpong underwent a scan but no damage was found and he could now start at the Etihad in Saturday’s 12.45pm kickoff.

There were no other surprises in the Liverpool squad put through their paces in the Kirkby sun, though Alexis Mac Allister seemingly did not join the outdoor session.

However this will simply be due to the midfielder reporting back later than the rest of his team-mates – having played for Argentina in Buenos Aires in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time.

Only 17 outfield players were pictured in action including youngsters Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni, Kieran Morrison and Armin Pecsi.

Pecsi is likely to travel to the Etihad as third goalkeeper, with Alisson among those ruled out through injury.

The Brazilian’s issue is as yet unconfirmed but Arne Slot has already explained that he is due to remained sidelined for a “bit longer.”

Conor Bradley worked in the gym along with Mac Allister on Thursday but the right-back is still considered a long-term absentee as with Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo, Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns.
