James Garner has now returned to Everton following his England debut under Thomas Tuchel.
Stuart Pearce was impressed with Garner’s England debut against Uruguay last week at Wembley Stadium.
It has been a poor international break for the Three Lions, but Garner is one of the players who prevailed with any credit.

With some important games ahead for Everton, Pearce firmly believes the 25-year-old midfielder has shown enough to be in the running for a spot on the plane.

“By the time we start, if we start the World Cup with that team, you know full well it’s not going to finish with that team,” said the England legend.
“So you’re hoping the likes of Bellingham is going to force his way in. That should be his aim, potentially Rashford, maybe one or two from the outside that we haven’t seen, maybe Garner even.
“You know, if Garner’s run into the squad, isn’t that fragmented at this moment in time and that late? Maybe even someone like him who we’re not even thinking about at this moment in time.”
Alan Shearer wants Garner selected for England’s World Cup squad having praised the midfielder’s efforts throughout the season.
Tuchel left it late to call Garner up to the squad, but the Everton standout has finally got his foot in the door at St. George’s Park.
Garner had a near perfect England camp
Tuchel was impressed with Garner in training and following his debut display against Uruguay on Friday.
The Everton midfielder did not start Tuesday’s game against Japan, but he did come off the bench for the final 20 minutes.
Although he did not start, Garner’s stock surely rose, with Kobbie Mainoo failing to impress in the middle alongside Elliot Anderson.
Pearce’s TalkSPORT colleague Adrian Durham awarded Mainoo a mere 2/10 rating after the game at Wembley.
Garner must now continue from where he left off for Everton next weekend against Brentford.
