Marcos Senesi, Oscar Mingueza, Harry Wilson and 11 other free agents Everton could target

We take a look at some of the players set to be free agents in the summer who could be of interest to Everton

While Everton's season is very much alive on the field, no doubt off the field the club's recruitment team already have one eye on the transfer window.

Just how much the Blues will be able to spend in the summer could depend on whether David Moyes and his players are successful in bringing European football to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time.

But either way, there will be budget for Everton manager Moyes to build on what has been a season of big progress.

However, the free transfer market could also be an area worth exploring.

And here we take a look at some of the players who are set to be out of contract at the end of the season, who the Blues could target...

Full-Backs

Vitalii Mykolenko's contract runs out at the end of season, and with Adam Aznou seemingly deemed not ready for first-team football, that leaves Everton in the market for a left-back if the Ukraine international does not pen fresh terms.

One name that may be on the radar is Souffian El Karouani of Utrecht.

A Morocco international team-mate of Aznou, the 25-year-old has notched three goals and 16 assists in all competitions this season.

Only PSV’s Joey Veerman (13) has more assists in the 2025/26 Eredivisie than El Karouani (10), who has already attracted interest from the likes of West Ham United and Marseille, as well as the Saudi Pro League.

Several Premier League left-backs could also be without a club this summer: Brentford’s Rico Henry, Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, and Tyrell Malacia of Manchester United.

On the other side of defence, at right-back, options are plentiful as the Blues attempt eventually to find a long-term replacement for club captain Seamus Coleman, whose contract expires in the summer.

Oscar Mingueza can play on both sides, and has played 36 times this year for Europa League quarter-finalists Celta Vigo, claiming six assists.

The Spain international is a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy.

Another man who may be on Everton’s watchlist, particularly if they qualify for Europe, is Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier.

While 35 years old, the 54-time England international would add a wealth of experience and quality to the defence.

Former Arsenal right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu will also become available when his deal at Ajax expires. While fitness issues have stunted the Japan international in recent times, he is still only 27 and can play anywhere across the backline.

Another option at right-back is Roma’s Zeki Celik. A Ligue 1 winner with Lille, the 29-year-old has started 35 times this term for the Italian outfit, playing on both the right-hand side and at the centre of defence.

Centre-Backs

Centre-back doesn't appear to be an area of need to strengthen given Moyes already boasts James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Michael Keane and Jake O’Brien.

But while Keane has been excellent this season, his contract is set to run out, and Everton have been linked with new centre-backs including Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi.

After the Cherries lost both Dean Huijsen and Ilya Zabarnyi last summer, the Argentine has certainly stepped up to the plate.

Another centre-back who may be on the Blues’ radar is their former player John Stones.

Stones - who was brought to Goodison Park by Moyes in 2013 - knows the club well and would undoubtedly add an abundance of quality and winning experience to the squad.

Manchester City look set to let the 31-year-old leave, with injuries having plagued his final years at the Etihad.

If he was to make a Merseyside return, Stones would likely need to take a pay cut. His fitness record also means any move would be something of a gamble.

Wingers

Everton currently have two wingers on loan in Jack Grealish and Tyrique George.

The Blues are keen to re-sign Grealish from Manchester City but the future looks less clear over Chelsea starlet George. So the wide positions could be an area under consideration.

Julian Brandt is a name that has already been mentioned. Borussia Dortmund have confirmed he will leave the club for free this summer

While he’s struggled for regular starts this season, the 29-year-old has already hit double digits for goals across all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Germany international has enjoyed several productive campaigns in black and yellow since his 2019 arrival, registering 15 direct goal involvements in the Bundesliga last term, and 19 in the previous season.

Able to play out wide and as a No.10, Brandt would be a very intriguing pickup for Everton.

Fulham’s Harry Wilson is also out of contract and has already been linked with a move to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Liverpool academy graduate is enjoying the finest season of his career to date, having already reached 10 goals and six assists in the Premier League.

A technically gifted footballer, Wilson is in his prime years at 29, and the prospect of the Welshman playing on the wings with Iliman Ndiaye, and perhaps Grealish, too, is a mouth-watering thought.

Finally, Allan Saint-Maximin has struggled to find a home after leaving Newcastle nearly three years ago. Having since played in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Mexico, he is now set to move again for free this summer, when his deal at Lens expires.

Representing more of a wildcard option, the 29-year-old Frenchman is guaranteed to bring flair and get bums off seats.

Striker

While Beto helped his cause with an excellent display against Chelsea before the international break, Everton could well be in the market for another striker next term.

Free transfer options appear to be thin, with Robert Lewandowski and Dusan Vlahovic perhaps a tad unrealistic for the Blues.

However, another of Fulham’s stars this season looks like he could be available.

Wilson’s team-mate Raul Jimenez has his deal up in June. He’s had a very solid year for the Cottagers.

Beto, Ndiaye, Thierno Barry, andKiernan Dewsbury-Hall are all tied on six goals each as Everton’s top Premier League goal-scorers.

Jimenez has nine (10 in all competitions), averaging 0.41 goals per 90 in the league, and 221 minutes per goal - numbers that aren’t to be sniffed at for a 34-year-old.

After scoring 14 times in the 2024/25 campaign, the Mexican has continued his impressive turnaround in the twilight of his career.

On a short-term deal, there are certainly far worse options for Moyes.
