Newcastle United are said to be among several clubs monitoring Diego Aguado's situation at Real Madrid, with the defender one of several youngsters tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Aguado, 19, has featured twice in the Madrid first-team, making his La Liga debut this season after being handed his debut in the Copa del Rey by former boss Carlo Ancelotti in 2025.

German side Borussia Dortmund have already seen a €6m bid turned down for the defender, who has represented Spain from U17 to U20 levels.

Aguado is a left-sided defender who can play both at left-back and centre-back, and with United looking to bolster their options at the back, he could be seen as a long-term replacement for Dan Burn in the Newcastle squad.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe is acutely aware that both Burn and Fabian Schar are in the latter stages of their careers, although both have continued to both to a high level in both the Premier League and European stage.

However, Burn will turn 34 next month, and United will continue to plan ahead, with a potential move for Aguado an exciting option.

Malick Thiaw and Sven Botman have been earmarked as the long-term centre-back pairing, but United's lack of options at the back have been exposed over the course of this season, with all but Thiaw suffering long-term absences.

He could also offer competition and cover for Lewis Hall at left-back, with United sorely lacking depth in that role.

They will face competition should they pursue their interest in Aguado, with Spanish outlet AS reporting that Italian clubs AC Milan and Parma are also interested in the youngster.

Aguardo made his La Liiga debut against Elche last month, and was quick to praise the Madrid academy set-up for his big chance.

“I can’t describe it, it’s an indescribable feeling, something I’ve dreamed about since I joined the club," he said.

"Day by day, with my parents’ effort bringing me to training, so much sacrifice to get here, and I have no words.”

“In the cantera, we’re always taught humility, to work every day, not look down on anyone, and be ourselves. More and more youth players are reaching the first team.”
