Rangers have been linked with a player emerging at Sunderland currently.
A Rangers move for a Sunderland player has been questioned - but the money spinning potential is undeniable amid Ibrox and Nottingham Forest rumours.
The Light Blues have eyes fixed on the Premiership title race currently but that doesn’t mean future planning won’t be going on in the background. In recent weeks, the club have been linked to signing Sunderland talent Finn Geragusian, who was called up by Armenia amid his impressive development at the Stadium of Light.
Nottingham Forest have also been rumoured to hold interest in the forward who’s netted regularly at U18s and U21s level at Sunderland. Former Aberdeen, Aston Villa and Everton chief Keith Wyness reckons it’d be a major step for Geragusian to join Rangers but it’s one that could financially lucrative if he came through at senior level.

Sunderland player to Rangers assessed
Wyness said on the Inside Track Podcast: “My first question is why are Sunderland letting him go? If the reason is because they believe that he can go on to a platform like Rangers and showcase himself, then he would get a move down to the Premier League, I’m pretty sure pretty quickly. For Rangers, they’ve got to be careful because taking an 18-year-old into the Glasgow pressure cooker isn’t always easy either, and that may not be the best platform.
“Mikey Moore seems to be an example where it took him a little while to settle down, but he’s done it now, and he understands it and has enjoyed it. If he is as good as they think he is, and he stays injury free, then that’s exactly the type of talent that can end up becoming a big money spinner for the club. It can be difficult for some people, so I’d want to do some research into the personality and the character of the player.”
Daily Mail reporter, Craig Hope, said in late March of interest around the Armenian star: “Sunderland face fight to keep hold of forward Finn Geragusian. Clubs from Premier League & Europe showing interest, inc. Nottingham Forest and Rangers.
Why do Rangers and Nottingham Forest want Sunderland player?
“18-yr-old out of contract in summer & yet to agree new deal. Still on scholarship contract, so under FIFA rules can leave for as little as €200k to non-English clubs Geragusian called up to most recent senior Armenia squad.”
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris recently said of the youngster: “He had a few training sessions with us and I appreciated his profile. He is a good lad, really well connected with the mentality of the region and the club. He is a good footballer with a strong physicality.
“In this league, you probably need two strong centre-backs, a strong forward, and the ability to be competitive in duels, first contact, second ball and so on. He is really well-rounded. After that, he is young, so he needs experience. He needs to improve different things, but I like his profile.”
