Morgan Rogers could leave Aston Villa in search of ‘major trophies’, according to a report
The Sun claim the 23-year-old ‘would be open to leaving’ in the summer and cites Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United as potential suitors.
The report says Rogers has an understanding with the club that this summer ‘is probably the right time’ for him to move on.
Obviously Villa’s end to the current campaign could have a big bearing, if they win the Europa League and/or qualify for the Champions League through the Premier League, that would be an important bargaining chip.
However, The Sun say it would be ‘nigh on impossible’ for Villa to retain the attacker if they don’t return to the continent's top table.
It is claimed any transfer would be more than £80million and could even get close to the £100m Manchester City paid Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021.
Rogers was the subject of speculation last summer and had a stuttering start to this campaign – as did Villa – before recovering his form and signing an extended contract until 2031.
The former West Brom trainee has been a superb piece of business since signing from Middlesbrough for a bargain £8m and thriving under Unai Emery.
He has played 114 times for Villa, scored 27 goals and added 24 assists, he has ten and seven from 44 appearances this season and has displaced Jude Bellingham as Thomas Tuchel’s first choice No. 10.
