Jadon Sancho is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks due to a shoulder injury and is a doubt to face Nottingham Forest on April 12.

The winger was withdrawn just before half time of Villa's friendly clash with Elche last week after sustaining the problem.

Sancho landed heavily following a challenge from Gonzalo Villar five minutes before the break, prompting concern among Villa staff.

Medical personnel attended to him but he remained clearly troubled by his shoulder.

Discomfort was visible on his face as manager Unai Emery swiftly brought on Ollie Watkins in his place.

The Athletic has now revealed that Sancho is set to spend a minimum of two weeks recovering from the knock.

This means he may be unavailable for both Europa League quarter-final encounters with Bologna, along with potentially two domestic fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Sunderland.
