A Leeds United chief has made a create Whites history call.
Whites boss Daniel Farke has made a Leeds United history call with a proud declaration about his players and “crunch time” barometer.
Farke’s side will return to action following the conclusion of the March international break with Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham, one week before resuming their bid for Premier League survival with a Monday night clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Farke has continually admitted that surviving the club’s first season back in the Premier League is the clear priority - but with a determination to also lead a strong cup run.
Combining the two, the Whites boss says his men are now determined to create “a chapter of club history” by reaching the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1987 whilst also sealing Premier League survival.
“The last six gamedays so we are not quite there yet”
Speaking at Thursday’s pre-West Ham FA Cup quarter-final press conference, Farke said: “In general, crunch time period for me is the last six gamedays so we are not quite there yet.
“But of course we are right now heading into the decisive period of the season so there's no break upcoming.
“We have right now seven weeks to concentrate on all to achieve our goals.
“The players had very important games for their mindset, the chance to qualify for example for the World Cup or to make an impression for the English squad, the Switzerland squad, the German squad anyhow.
“It's always difficult to tell them 'yeah, by the way in two days we have the most important game in the world' so you have to allow them to settle back in but then also to focus them on our task. This is what I like also about our group.
“They are pretty, pretty soon after they're back together with us, so committed and so together in order to achieve what we want to achieve.
“We would write a chapter of history”
“We know that we are on a really good path on Premier League level but also in the FA Cup and we have the chance with this very special and very unique group to write a chapter of history.
“We would write a chapter of history if we can achieve Premier League survival. We would write a chapter of history if we progress through into the into the semi-final.
“And for that we are highly motivated to do this because each and every year is unique and you just have this group together just for one season and then there are always slight adjustments, some players will leave, some players will join us.
“This group is so united, so together and they are highly motivated to achieve something special and so from tomorrow on when we are all back together on the training pitch I think they will focus on this.
“My experience with this group is that they are pretty much focused then right now and put all the other stuff to bed. They want to be successful with Leeds United.”
