Premier League make official Newcastle United announcement - look away Man Utd

Newcastle United news: William Osula has won the Premier League goal of the month for his strike against Manchester United.

Newcastle United striker William Osula won the Premier League’s goal of the month award for March for his ‘sublime’ winner against Manchester United.

Osula came off the bench to curl in a dramatic winner from the edge of the box for Newcastle United in a 2-1 victory against Man United in which they were controversially reduced to 10 men.

Jacob Ramsey was shown a second yellow card for simulation before Anthony Gordon gave the Magpies the lead from the penalty spot in the first half. Then on the stroke of half-time, Man United equalised through a Casemiro header.

The Red Devils were unable to make their numerical advantage count and were punished by super-sub Osula, who won the ball back deep in Newcastle’s half before bombing down the right wing, cutting inside and curling in only his third Premier League goal.

Premier League make official announcement

The Premier League announced Osula’s goal of the month win with a brief announcement on X, which read: “A long run and sublime finish to win the game in the 90th minute for @NUFC. William Osula's stunning solo effort wins Guinness Goal of the Month for March.”

Osula is the first Newcastle player since Alexander Isak to win the award. Isak’s strike against Liverpool in December 2024 won the respective goal of the month award that month.

Eddie Howe misses out

Eddie Howe was also surprisingly nominated for the manager of the month award despite a 2-1 derby defeat to Sunderland. He ultimately missed out to Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, who boasted a perfect three wins from three record in March.
