With doubts emerging over Morgan Rogers' future, Aston Villa are now readying an approach to sign an instant replacement for their lead talisman.
Aston Villa facing fresh Rogers concern
Aston Villa's finances once again stole the headlines this week. Even as they push to secure Champions League football once again, it looks increasingly likely that they'll have to sell a big name if they want to invest in their own reinforcements this summer.
So naturally, Rogers' future has been questioned at the same time. Reports are now suggesting that the England international has struck an understanding with those at Villa Park that they won't stand in his way if a big offer arrives for his signature at the end of the season.
Losing Rogers would, of course, come as a major blow for a side looking to become a Champions League mainstay. It would also raise further questions about the Premier League's financial rules and the loopholes that clubs in the 'big six' have supposedly found over the years.
Replacing Rogers is likely to be an incredibly tough task. There's a good reason why Aston Villa value their star man at a hefty £80m and a good reason why he's likely to play an important part in Thomas Tuchel's England side at the 2026 World Cup.

He could be snapped up for a bargain fee this summer.
Those in the Midlands are at least planning ahead, however. Names such as Harry Wilson have already threatened to steal the headlines, with his contract coming to an end at Fulham, and he's now joined on Aston Villa's shortlist by a European star.
Aston Villa readying Ibrahima Mbaye approach
According to L'Équipe, via Sport Witness, Aston Villa are now readying an approach to sign Ibrahim Mbaye following his "meteoric rise" at Paris Saint-Germain, despite reports claiming that his priority remains set on staying at the French giants this summer.
The 18-year-old is certainly one to watch. His ability to play on both flanks would hand Unai Emery some much-needed versatility if Rogers leaves, as well as a future star.
Mbaye has already earned plenty of praise around European football. Como scout Ben Mattinson dubbed him "lightening quick", whilst talent scout Jacek Kulig described the winger as "amazing" just last week.
The future is incredibly bright for the teenager, who has already been on the scoresheet once for PSG this season. The big question simply remains where that bright future will take place.
