With important games on the horizon, Arne Slot will need a full-strength squad to choose from. Liverpool face Manchester City on Saturday, and the game could define their season.

A loss leaves the Champions League as the only hope the Reds have to win silverware this season. A tall task after recent performances. A tricky tie against PSG lies ahead. A win for Liverpool at the Etihad suddenly has a trophy within sight.

Alexander Isak has returned to full team training, a massive boost to the side, let alone the fanbase. Isak looked more comfortable in recent social media clips shared by the club. Hopefully, that will transfer into goal-scoring performances in the coming weeks. Mohamed Salah and Jeremie Frimpong are also fit after recent injury concerns.

Liverpool dealt Alisson blow

Alisson Becker is one player Liverpool will be without for these important fixtures. The Brazilian international picked up an injury last month; the exact nature of the injury has not been revealed.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arne Slot confirmed the 33-year-old will be out until “the end of the season”. Transfermarkt has Alisson’s injury listed as “muscular problems“. Juventus have been linked with a summer move for the Liverpool legend.

Slot said: “Yeah, he (Alisson) will not be part of the PSG game either, out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season we expect him to be fit. Frimpong trained with us and seems to be OK but he was one of the players I referred to at Brighton, he still has a step to make in terms of every 3 days. Interesting and difficult choice for how many minutes on international duty. We don’t have 8 right full-backs available but I will find an answer.”

Giorgi Mamardashvili was impressive against Brighton despite the 2-1 loss for the Reds. The Georgian shotstopper arrived as one of the hottest prospects in Europe. A talented goalkeeper who can fill the void Alisson will eventually leave. However, the 25-year-old has been inconsistent. His performances will need to improve consistently to convince the fanbase that he is the Brazilian’s long-term successor.

Three important games give the Georgian a chance to gain the long-term trust of the fans.
