Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arne Slot confirmed the 33-year-old will be out until “the end of the season”. Transfermarkt has Alisson’s injury listed as “muscular problems“. Juventus have been linked with a summer move for the Liverpool legend.
Slot said: “Yeah, he (Alisson) will not be part of the PSG game either, out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season we expect him to be fit. Frimpong trained with us and seems to be OK but he was one of the players I referred to at Brighton, he still has a step to make in terms of every 3 days. Interesting and difficult choice for how many minutes on international duty. We don’t have 8 right full-backs available but I will find an answer.”
Giorgi Mamardashvili was impressive against Brighton despite the 2-1 loss for the Reds. The Georgian shotstopper arrived as one of the hottest prospects in Europe. A talented goalkeeper who can fill the void Alisson will eventually leave. However, the 25-year-old has been inconsistent. His performances will need to improve consistently to convince the fanbase that he is the Brazilian’s long-term successor.
