Steve Bull: Strikers can fire Wolves to glory next season

Published4th Apr 2026, 08:00 BST

Adam Armstrong has done quite well since arriving at Wolves.

He’s not had many chances in the games he’s played because he’s done all the hard yards, run his socks off and put the team first.

His goal against Brentford was a tremendous finish and a deserved reward for all the work he has put in.

It’s taken time for him to get back into Premier League football, but he looks comfortable now. He’s a worker, a proper grafter, and that is admirable.

He’ll be with Wolves next season and I think he’ll be full of goals. However, he won’t want to be known as a Championship goalscorer, he’ll want that title in the Premier League, and I think he can achieve it with the right service.

He’ll want some more goals this season and carry some momentum, and that snowball effect, into the next campaign.

His striker partner Tolu Arokodare has taken time to get his feet under the table and adjust to the pace of the Premier League, but the Championship is totally different.

Armstrong knows that league and how to battle in it, and as a pair they could be a formidable force in the Championship.

But I don’t want to count my chickens just yet because we still have seven games left.

I’m gutted we’ve had this long break because we were building momentum and looking good. I’m hoping they all come back fresh and sharp and you never know, if we beat West Ham, we might still have a sniff at pulling off the great escape.

The opposition in these final seven games are mostly down there with us and if we do go down, we have to go down fighting and maybe take some of them down with us.

After a few weeks off, Rob Edwards will be chomping at the bit to get back under way and if the players continue where they left off, we can definitely get a few more points on the board before the end of May.
