Steven Gerrard is likely the best player in Liverpool’s history in the eyes of most fans, but Jose Enrique thinks one of his teammates was better.
The Spaniard joined the Reds in 2011 from Newcastle United, spending five years at Anfield before being released as a free agent in 2016.
Now, Enrique has decided that during his time with the club, Luis Suarez was the best player he played with.

Why Luis Suarez was better than Steven Gerrard
Answering questions on TikTok, the former full-back was asked to name the best player he played with.
When doing so, Enrique said he was sure that Suarez is his best-ever former teammate.
He said: “Well, if you refer to the best player I played with, definitely Luis Suarez. 100% Suarez.”
In a follow-up TikTok video, the ex-Liverpool man was then asked if Gerrard is second on that list.

Enrique went on to explain the reason the Reds legend wasn’t at the same level as Suarez when they were playing together.
He said Gerrard had a hip injury, and he did not play with the Englishman during his prime years.
Enrique stated: “Gerrard will be up there with Luis, to be honest. The problem with Stevie. I didn’t go to Stevie in his full prime.
“I think he had a hip injury, so he wasn’t the Stevie I play against. I think if [I] got him in that time, he would be up there with Luis.”

Luis Suarez’s Liverpool exit admission
Suarez scored 82 goals and provided 32 assists in 133 appearances during his time at Anfield.
He left for FC Barcelona in 2014, going on to form a lethal attacking partnership with Lionel Messi and Neymar.
The South American then opened up on his Liverpool exit in an interview back in 2015, saying he was right to leave.
Suarez said: “Leaving Liverpool for Barcelona was the right decision.
“Winning trophies was a part of my decision in joining Barcelona, but also as a family we knew it was the right decision even before I won a trophy.
“I am very happy at Barcelona – I am at the best club in the world. If you look at some of the players here they have won trophies season after season, and that is my aim now.”
