How have Brighton's summer signings performed this season?

Let's take a look at Albion’s incomings from the summer window:

Charalampos Kostoulas joined from Olympiacos for £31.4m

Tom Watson: Winger, joined from Sunderland for £10m

Maxim De Cuyper: Left-back, joined from Club Brugge for £17.3m

Diego Coppola: Centre-back, joined from Hellas Verona for £9m

Olivier Boscagli: Centre-back, joined from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer

Yoon Doyoung: Winger, joined from Daejeon Hana Citizen for an undisclosed fee

Bonus addition to the 2025/26 squad:

Stefanos Tzimas: Striker, officially signed in the February 2025 winter transfer window..He spent the rest of last season on loan at FC Nürnberg, but then joined up with the Albion first-team squad.

In this summary, we'll look at the players who have enjoyed first team minutes for the club. At the time of writing, this excludes Yoon Doyoung.

The Greek lads

All eyes inevitably fell on the two Greek forwards tasked with carrying the goalscoring burden Albion had.

Charalampos Kostoulas arrived from Olympiacos in a £31.4 million deal, while Stefanos Tzimas, who had signed in the winter window, then linked up with the squad. Between them, that represented close to £50 million invested, and Albion hoped both would come good quickly.

However, it's not been straightforward for both youngsters.

Whilst gaining momentum with minutes awarded by Hurzler, Tzimas suffered a season-ending knee injury.

The striker went off midway through the first half of Brighton’s 4-3 defeat to Aston Villa on December 3rd, 2025, with Fabian confirming he'd suffered an ACL injury.

Before that Stefanos Tzimas, had made 12 Albion appearances, scoring three.

18-year-old Kostoulas has made 21 appearances for Albion in all competitions. He's scored 2 goals and has an assist to his name.

So far, his best moment in an Albion shirt saw the Greek strike score a bicycle-kick to earn Brighton a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth (January 19th).

Despite this, it really is early days for these two, and their best is yet to come.

Boscagli struggling for minutes

Defender Oliver Boscagli has been openly frustrated this campaign, with Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler confirming it.

In a press conference, Fabian also said: "Olivier Boscagli is a challenger. He needs to challenge the two other centre-backs.

"He needs to be ready when there might be an injury, a suspension, that he is ready to start physically and mentally in a game.

“It’s not an easy situation for him. I had a conversation with him about that, that he needs to make sure he is training well, that he commits to our principles, that he sticks to our culture."

The 28-year-old has played just 13 games for Albion since arriving. Due to his lack of game time, rumours have already emerged about his Brighton future.

However, when called upon, he's been a solid back-up option for The Seagulls.

Maxim De Cuyper's promising start

Since joining, Maxim has impressed with his creativity as a left-back. He'd joined after establishing himself as a top-performing defender, who was could be effective offensively too. He's enjoyed 25 appearances for Albion this season.

However, the 25-year-old has found it difficult to maintain momentum with minor knee and achilles issues interrupting his progress.

Watson and Coppola on loan

Tom Watson joined The Seagulls after scoring a £220 million play-off final goal for Sunderland.

His goal put the Black Cats back into to Premier League action.

Despite this, the attacker has found it difficult to break into Hurzeler's side. He's made ten appearances for Albion, but has scored just one goal so far.

In February, the 19-year-old joined Millwall FC on loan to see out the season.

At the time of writing, Tom has made ten appearances for the second place Championship side, scoring one goal.

Diego Coppola has a similar story. The 22-year-old centre back joined Paris FC in the January transfer window. He's made seven appearances for them so far.

He impressed during Brighton's preseason, and played nine games with Albion before this move.
