Man Utd have been handed a massive injury boost ahead of their return to Premier League action later this month.

Manchester United have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of their final seven matches of the Premier League season.

Michael Carrick’s side are currently well-positioned to secure Champions League qualification at the end of the campaign, but still need to get a few more points on the board to be certain of a top-four finish. United are back in action when they host historic rivals Leeds at Old Trafford on Monday 13 April and there is some positive injury news ahead of the match.

United have confirmed defender Patrick Dorgu is back doing individual training on grass at Carrington as he continues his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury. The 21-year-old has been sidelined since he suffered the injury in the dramatic 3-2 away win over Arsenal in January, when he scored a spectacular goal. Dorgu has missed the last eight matches because of the setback, but is expected to return before the end of the season and could even return later this month.

Manchester United handed Patrick Dorgu injury boost

Manchester United will not rush Patrick Dorgu back into action after his hamstring injury, but his return to training on the grass is a positive step in his recovery process.

In an update posted to the club’s official website on Saturday lunchtime, United confirmed Dorgu had returned to training on an individual basis but stressed there was no official timeline on his return to action. The article stated, ‘he continues to work on his recovery with the current aim of being back with the squad before the end of the season.’

There is no indication on whether Dorgu will be included in the United squad when they travel to the Republic of Ireland for an intense training camp on Monday. Lisandro Martinez could be included in the squad, with Noussair Mazraoui, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko also set to feature after recent injury issues.

Matthijs De Ligt remains a long-term injury issue for United and has not featured since the victory over Crystal Palace at the end of November. Michael Carrick is adamant the Dutch defender will feature again before the end of the season, but time is running out for him to do so.
