In recent days the drumbeat has grown louder regarding a move to Real Madrid for Alexis Mac Allister.
We’ve seen reports suggesting that the 15-time European champions have got the Argentina World Cup winner on their midfield shortlist.
Plus, it’s also been suggested that the 27-year-old has had his people reach out to Madridabout the possibility of moving to the Bernabeu.
With Mac Allister out of contract in 2028 - and no sign of a renewal on the horizon - it will soon come time for Richard Hughes to make a decision on the No10’s future.
Without a new contract there remains the chance that the former Brighton star will be sold in order to avoid losing him on a free.
Liverpool want Archie Gray
And now per a report in Spain Liverpool have sounded out a promising young midfielder as Mac Allister’s successor. Archie Gray, 20, has been a bright spot in a dismal season for Tottenham.
Having moved to North London from hometown club Leeds in 2024 the England under-21 international has established himself as a Premier League and Champions League mainstay.
Now the report claims thatGray has emerged as the top Liverpool target to replace the Real Madrid-bound Macca.
“The technical staff's top target is Archie Gray, the young Tottenham Hotspur star who is dazzling the Premier League at just 20 years old,” the report in Fichajes reads.
“The board is looking to capitalize on Spurs' precarious situation, facing potential relegation, to lure the talented England Under-21 international.
“With the departure of a key player looming, acquiring young talent has become the absolute priority to sustain the club's aspirations.
“Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign a player who has shown remarkable maturity beyond his years in North London.”
