Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben and former Magpies' director Mehrdad Ghodoussi both took to social media to heap praise on Kieran Trippier after his departure from the club was confirmed. When players leave football club's you rarely see club hierarchy comment on individuals aside from maybe the manager or the sporting director, which speaks volumes about Trippier's impact at the club.
The 35-year-old will leave St. James' Park when his contract comes to an end this summer, bringing an end to four years at the club. In that time, Trippier established himself as one of the best right-backs in the club's history and helped them win the Carabao Cup against Liverpool last season.
He was the first signing made by the current Magpies' ownership, acting as the catalyst for the major signings that would follow.
Trippier shared a video on social media confirming his departure at the end of the campaign, in which the former England international said: "It's emotional and I'm really going to miss it. I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times for me personally.
"You've always supported me, always stood by me. To my team-mates, it's going to be emotional. It's been an amazing journey with you guys.
"I'm going to miss you all, but to win a trophy with you guys was really, really special - the best of my career."

Ghodoussi commented on Trippier's Instagram post and said: "You were the first through the door. Thank you. [Black loveheart emoji, white loveheart emoji] @krtippier2."
The former Magpies owner appeared to have a close friendship with fellow director Rueben, with the pair often bantering one another on social media.

Black and white supporters enjoyed the humour between the two, before Ghodoussi departed the club, along with wife Amanda Staveley in July 2024.
Reuben has not been as active on social media as he was during his early tenure at St. James' Park, but took to social media to break his silence and sent a heartfelt message to Trippier.
On X, Reuben posted: "Kieran was our first signing, joined when many others wouldn’t, fought every day for this club and was an inspirational leader, captain and player. Can’t thank him enough and wishing him the very best going forward. JR."
Several Newcastle United stars were also spotted in the comment section on Trippier's social media post, with Dan Burn commenting: "Legend," while Fabian Schar said: "Gonna be a big miss."
Alan Shearer said: "Thanks Tripps," while former Newcastle talisman Allan Saint-Maximin commented with an eye watering emoji and a red loveheart.
The outpouring of thanks and emotion following the announcement solidifies Trippier's place as an all time Newcastle great.
