Real Madrid fans call ‘corruption’ after Barcelona star escapes red card

_1_

Supporters of Real Madrid have on Saturday evening made crystal clear their feelings with the standard of officiating in La Liga.

This comes owing to developments in the showdown between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona.

Early in the 2nd-half at the Metropolitano, the visitors looked as though they were set to be reduced to 10 men.

After Gerard Martín was responsible for a heavy challenge on Thiago Almada, the referee produced a straight red card.

The decision was from here sent to the VAR room, owing to the fact that Martín made contact with the ball before following through onto Almada.

The call, in turn, was overturned, with the Barcelona defender having instead been shown a yellow card.

And safe to say, as much has since not gone down at all well with those of a Real Madrid persuasion…

After their side were condemned to a damaging defeat at the hands of Mallorca earlier in the day, the Blancos faithful flooded to social media on Saturday night, to highlight what they consider ‘corruption’ in Spanish football:

> How are we meant to compete with this LEVEL OF CORRUPTION?????? Just look at the red card they gave FEDE and the red card they cancelled for Barca. Ridiculous.
