Kieran Trippier will leave a big hole in Newcastle United’s squad when he leaves this summer.
It will leave big shoes to fill in the squad with the Magpies losing a key player on and off the pitch. Trippier is also a founding member of Newcastle’s leadership group and has captained the side on numerous occasions since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2022.
Trippier will leave Newcastle having made over 150 appearances for the club, lifting the Carabao Cup and twice qualifying for the Champions League.

NUFC favourites react to Kieran Trippier announcement
And his impact has been felt throughout the squad and beyond, with many people connected to Newcastle reacting to the announcement of his departure.
Former Newcastle co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi played a role in the signing of Trippier over four years ago.
Ghodoussi messaged on Instagram: “You were the first through the door. Thank you.”
Trippier was the first signing made by Eddie Howe following Newcastle’s takeover in October 2021.
Current Newcastle co-owner, Jamie Reuben added on X: “Kieran was our first signing, joined when many others wouldn’t, fought every day for this club and was an inspirational leader, captain and player. Can’t thank him enough and wishing him the very best going forward.”

Dan Burn, who followed shortly after in the same transfer window, commented: “Legend.”
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer thanked Trippier for his service to the club while former Newcastle players Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Targett and Paul Dummett also issued messages of support.
Fabian Schar is also out of contract at the end of the season, but commented: “Gonna be a big miss.”
We can read into that comment as much as we like, but it remains to be seen whether Schar will follow suit or sign a new deal at Newcastle.
Kieran Trippier confirms Newcastle United departure
In a club statement confirming his upcoming departure, Trippier said: “The time has come to leave this amazing club after four-and-a-half years. This is where I have felt most at home. It’s emotional, and I’m really going to miss it.
“I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times for me personally. You've always supported me, always stood by me.
“To my teammates, it's going to be emotional. It's been an amazing journey with you guys. I'm going to miss you all, but to win a trophy with you guys was really, really special - the best of my career.
“And to the manager, Eddie Howe, all the coaching staff and the team behind the scenes, a massive thank you. The ga@er had the trust - twice - to sign me, gave me the opportunity to represent and captain this great club and most importantly, we managed to win a trophy.
“I'm going to miss everyone at the club. Thank you.”
